Dr. Sophie graduated from the top medical school in Pakistan. He then went on to do a research fellowship in retinal vascular diseases at the Johns Hopkins University. His work led to many advances in the field of retina, and he has received the ARVO National Eye Institute Travel grant. He completed his Ophthalmology residency at the University of Louisville followed by a fellowship in retinal surgeries at the Medical College of Wisconsin, performing over a 1000 surgeries during his training.
With more than 35 published articles in peer-reviewed journals as well as several book chapters and international presentations. He continues to pursue impactful research that directly affects patient care. His surgical interests include secondary intraocular lens placements and advanced diabetic retinopathy cases.
Dr. Sophie is board certified from the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is a member of the American Society of Retina Specialists, American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology and the American Medical Association. He serves as the Director of Clinical Research at Retina Associates of Michigan.
In his free time, Dr. Sophie enjoys traveling and experiencing the outdoors with his wife, daughter and son. He enjoys watching and playing soccer.
